So when you have a under performing property like ‘A Great Set of Tipples.’ You need a gimmick and here it is.
As the three people who have bothered to click on the link to A Great Set of Tipples would know it’s a site all about our great love, beer. You know beer the amber fluid that gets ugly chicks laid, roided up boys punched and football stars into a Humphrey B Bear level of strife (aka all manner of).
Sure the product itself great, but what is even better is the TV ads for Beer , and I’m not talking here of the new fangled, animatronic tongue type of ad, I’m talking the 1980’s style of beer ad. The reason why 80’s Beer ads are so good? The singing.
Somehow the manliest of all manly drinks is inherently linked to song, the same way that large meatheaded footballers come off the ground after a hard game and immediately get together for a bit sing along, beer could not be sold in the 1980’s without a little ditty.
So each week on A Great Set of Tipples (on a Tuesday normally) we will be presenting to you another awesome 80’s beer ad. This week a XXXX ad from the early 80’s This ad ticks all the boxes, beach, chicks in bikini and Aussie Cricketeers, yes that is AB, and Fatcat Ritchie, Thommo and some other dude.
Look out for the natty dancing from the Cricketeers and the awesome panto doubletake.
But of course it’s the song that makes it, I leave you with this line
‘I wish this lazy Sunday would never disappear and I could hold back Monday for the rest of the year.’
